I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from California State University in Long Beach in 1998 and have served as a licensed counselor and social worker with individuals of varying ages, backgrounds and cultures. My social work experience started when I lived and worked in an inner-city environment in Los Angeles with children and youth from difficult backgrounds. From there I served as a school social worker and counselor in both public and private schools and in counseling agencies in St. Louis. I had the opportunity to live in southern Spain for three years serving marginalized women as well as providing care and counseling to missionaries from around the world.
Currently I work with individuals of all ages and issues ranging from anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, parenting, adoption and foster care, grief and loss, aging and more. I have a specialty in EMDR for trauma-related issues.
My faith in God informs my values, ethics, and approach to helping others, allowing me to offer spiritual support, if you would like to explore that as part of the counseling process. I hope to provide you with a holistic counseling experience that aligns with your needs and personal convictions.
On a personal note, I love the outdoors, travel and ethnic cuisine. I have a grown adopted daughter, son-in-law, grandson and a playful puppy, all of whom I enjoy tremendously.
I place a high value on fostering an atmosphere of comfort, empathy, and understanding, and provide a safe space to explore your emotions and address your concerns. I hope you feel valued, respected, and empowered as you navigate your journey towards mental and emotional wellness.
