My name is Elizabeth Ranheim and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I attended Auburn University, and earned my Masters in Counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary in 2006. For over 20 years, I have worked in a variety of positions with youth, college students, and young mothers. In 2020 I began work as a counselor at CrossRoads Counseling center. I see women over the age of 18, and men who prefer to see a female counselor. I help clients who are experiencing stage of life transitions, spiritual or physical abuse, anxiety, depression, grief, and marriage or family conflict.

As a counselor I am a strong advocate for my clients in areas of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Both gentleness and strength are present when I sit with clients. I have found it helpful to make room for lightness of humor, vulnerability of tears, and complexity of anger in the therapy room. Holding space and curiosity for all the parts that show up is a privilege. I believe wholeheartedly that when we face pain together, and not alone, burdens become bearable. I believe it is life changing to be known, to be seen, to be validated, and joined by someone who is “with them and for them”. Through counseling, clients find themselves resilient to handle difficult circumstances and equipped to meet their goals.

My approach to counseling is informed by study of Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman research and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR/EMDRIA certified) training. I incorporate these and other evidence based theories according to the needs of each client. I highly value the experiences and wisdom of my clients holding compassion for them and enjoy learning from them.

I live in Chesterfield Missouri with my husband John. John and I  have been married for 20 years and have four sons who love adventure! I love to build a great fire in the winter, enjoy paddle boarding in the summer, and I am eager every season to go to the beach.
