Meet our Staff
![]() I’m a St. Louis native and have been working in the counseling community for the last 20 years. Bob Gordon began training and mentoring me 17 years ago. Out of that relationship came much of the foundation on which CrossRoads is built. During all this time, walking with people through difficult and disconcerting seasons has been a unique privilege. I also really enjoy training and working with the other counselors at CCC. In addition, I do some public speaking, addressing issues of the heart and intimate relationships. |
![]() I was born and raised here in St. Louis. I attended John Burroughs High School and Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. My education and experience during most of my professional career has been focused on broadcast and industrial television production. I was fortunate enough to be awarded two Emmy awards, a bronze and gold medal from the International Film and Television Festival and a variety of other awards for my work during those years. |
![]() My passion for helping others has grown out of my own journey to find laughter and love in the midst of pain and brokenness. As a licensed professional counselor, I am honored to help others sort through their own stories and to see them emerge with freedom and confidence. |
![]() I have a special interest in helping children find ways to communicate their stories, thus I pursued specific training in the area of child-centered play therapy. Recently, CrossRoads invited me to put together a therapeutic playroom, giving children the tools they need to communicate their inner world. In addition to my individual work with adults, children, and teens, I facilitate Wounded Heart groups at our South City office, where I serve as team leader. Four years ago, my family moved to St. Louis, where my husband completed an M.Div. at Covenant Seminary. Soon after, CrossRoads offered me the chance to lead a satellite office in South City, where our family lives, plays, and worships. It has been a dream come true to bring the quality counseling offered by CrossRoads to my own community. While I take great satisfaction in my work, my greatest thrill is sharing life with my husband, Mike, and nurturing our three lively daughters, Zoe, Mia, and Evi. |
![]() I’ve sat in the same chair for twenty-seven years. |
![]() It is an honor to meet with people who share about important issues in their lives. I am drawn to interact with those who have or are experiencing trauma, abuse (emotional, physical and/or sexual), grief, betrayal, crises, loss, or severe rejection. In my personal life I am learning the importance of how I interpret and respond to life's experiences and encourage those I meet with in their choices and the affect both individually and relationally. We seek to decrease fears, anxieties, depression, and a variety of self-protective strategies that interfere with their good desires. |
![]() I work with individuals and couples to bring about restoration and healing through a process of interpersonal therapy. With continual encouragement and supportive empathy, I work to draw out the deeper concerns, longings, and fears in my client’s heart in order to bring the dark things into the light. |
![]() Loss and brokenness in my life opened me to hear God’s calling, and leave a teaching career to complete a Masters in Counseling in 2007 from Covenant Theological Seminary. Since then I have worked as a professional counselor with individuals, couples, and families experiencing abuse, identity issues, anxiety, depression, grief, divorce, adultery, and personality disorders. In an effort to expand my knowledge and skills to better serve my clients, I also become a Certified Christian Conciliator in 2010 through Peacemaker Ministries, enabling me to work with couples, families, and organizations seeking reconciliation and restoration of both personal and professional relationships. In addition, I have taken advanced training in Sexual Abuse and Trauma, EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Domestic Violence to help those struggling with relational brokenness and trauma. |
![]() I grew up in a small farming community in Missouri, where I learned to work hard and persevere through most circumstances. While raising three children and working in various career fields, I felt there must be more to life. As I began to grow personally through my own counseling sessions and develop deep friendships in groups, I realized that for me "more" included passing along my new-found freedom and joy by using the gifts God had provided. |
![]() I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and grew up as a pastors son. My family moved a number of times over the years and I was greatly impacted by a handful of mentors and youth leaders that really took the time to invest in me. This allowed me to begin to understand both the glory and the brokenness in my story. I developed a passion for youth ministry and went on to get a B.A. in Student Ministry at Geneva College. I have been working full time as the Director of Middle School ministry at Central Presbyterian Church for the past 7 years and have a combined total of 13 years in the field. I also served as a Sgt. in the USMC for 8 years enlisting right after high school and eventually went on to also obtain a MA in Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2008. I have a heart to work primarily with adolescents and young adults who are wrestling with spiritual or relationship issues, anxiety, OCD, physical or sexual abuse, and other forms of interpersonal trauma and grief. With the recent rise in mental health needs by our Armed forces, I also hope to begin working with Military members and their families, as I have experienced first hand some of the challenges that come with being a part of the Armed forces. I am married to my wife of 7 years Katrina, and we have 2 year old son with a daughter on the way. |
![]() I grew up in a tight-knit town outside Kansas City. In 1989 I moved to Columbia, MO to attend Mizzou, where I received both my undergraduate and Master’s degrees. Toward the end of graduate school, I met my husband Kevin and moved to St. Louis in 1997. |
![]() I first encountered CrossRoads Counseling in the nineties when feeling stuck in a challenging relationship. Little did I know that one day, I would have the privilege of sitting on the other side of the coffee table, across from individuals who likewise are looking for somebody to walk beside them through their pain and confusion. |
![]() St. Louis has been my home now for three years, though I grew up in the beautiful state of Michigan. In college, I studied Psychology at the University of Michigan. Through college classes, friends, and mentors, I also discovered my passion to help hurting people find life in the midst of suffering. |
![]() My calling to counseling has been slow and steady, but sure. In the summer of 1998, freshly graduated and newly married, my wife and I moved to St. Louis so I could begin a career as a registered financial advisor. I began taking classes, part time, at Covenant Theological Seminary in the fall of 2002 and have been a student ever since. It is a privilege to be conducting my internship under the supervision of Doug Samsel and Dr. Bob Gordon |
![]() I am currently a student at Covenant Theological Seminary, pursuing an MA in Counseling and an MA in Exegetical Theology. I am excited to have the opportunity of doing an internship at CrossRoads this year under the supervision of Christi Brandenstein and Heather Bauer! |
Fees

Payments of cash, check or debit cards are accepted. CrossRoads does not accept credit card payments. If you have an Health Savings Account, please check to see if the HSA will issue you checks that you can draw on your account from or a PIN # for the card (most will). If they require you to use the card as a Credit Card, we charge a $5 processing fee.
Insurance

It is important to be aware that filing insurance claims for mental health services coverage may affect your ability to purchase medical, life, or disability insurance currently or in the future. If you file with your insurance company, they may request additional clinical information such as treatment plans or summaries, or copies of the entire record (in rare cases). This information will become part of the insurance company files and will probably be stored in a computer. Though all insurance companies claim to keep such information confidential, CrossRoads and your therapist have no control over information provided to a third party. Using your health insurance for psychotherapy and assessment also greatly reduces your flexibility in terms of choosing service providers and receiving the type of treatment and number of sessions needed for your situation. If you do plan to use insurance, please make sure you understand the extent of your benefits and discuss them with your therapist. This will allow the two of you to set realistic treatment goals based on what the insurance company allows regarding frequency and length of treatment.
